Equipped with snorkel and fins, wetsuit clad entrants swim one at a time up a 60 yard long (55 metres) muddy trench cut through a peat bog, round a pole and back down again. Each run is timed, with cash prizes and Ben and Jerry's ice cream for the fastest and slowest competitors. It costs four pounds to enter with all proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. As well as over- fishing, they are concerned about delays in tackling marine pollution. They cite the example of European and Scandinavian governments failing to take action to stop the release of 400 dangerous chemicals that are polluting the North-East Atlantic. As part of the campaign, the British Government has agreed to accept its first ever online petition. You can find the petition at http://www.wwf-uk.org/orca/petframe.htm Divers hunt for Titanic Treasure The first manned dive of the Titanic set off Friday to try to salvage diamonds and jewellery from inside the liner. Expedition leaders from the United States, accompanied by Russian and British vessels, hope to find a shipment of diamonds and to salvage passengers' personal jewellery which is thought to have been hurriedly collected by pursers as the sank in 1912.
