Accommodation in the Commonwealth of DominicaThe diving in Dominica currently is nearly all on the Caribbean side of the island, so that is where to base yourself. Much of the accommodation is fairly basic: one room with beds, living area and "kitchenette". The kitchenette tends to be a couple of rings, a fridge and a sink. Although there is good diving throughout Dominica, the best is in the South. We'd recommend spending some time in all areas: North, South and Middle. It is only a small island and you can travel from one end to the other in a couple of hours. North Dominica West Dominica South Dominica
North DominicaThe dive operator covering the North of Dominica is Cabrits Dive Centre in Portsmouth. You can stay in Portsmouth or Calibishie is also popular. Calibishie is on the Atlantic Northern coast of the island half an hour's drive from Portsmouth. If you haven't hired a car you can catch a bus between the two, but you will have to get up early to be there in time. To be sure of getting to the dive centre for an 8.30 am start you will need to catch the 6.40 am bus.
